Structure of Bacteria: Cells are surrounded by a lipid membrane, which encloses the contents of the cell & acts as a barrier to hold nutrients, proteins and other essential components of the cytoplasm within the cell. Bacteria, however, do not usually have membrane-bound organelles in the cytoplasm, and they contain few large intercellular structures.

Function of Bacteria:

The first function of any bacteria, like all living things, is to make more bacteria. Now, to do this, it has to be part of some other system which will provide it with the right conditions of temperature, humidity, and food provision to grow, mature, reproduce, and start all over again. Just because they cause disease and/or make food rotten - for example - does not mean that is their function. That is the way they have developed over many years to find a comfortable and successful way of reproducing!
